Mobile apps that can help to fight against Covid-19

covid 19 mobile apps

Overview

Governments, hospitals, schools, universities, and other organizations are employing Coronavirus mobile apps to aid in the public response to COVID-19. These mobile apps and dashboards can follow symptoms, provide up-to-date information on the virus’s progress, assist us in limiting contact, and much more. In addition, the programs assist you in learning everything you need to know about the infection in a variety of methods.

The Covid-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc over the globe, killing a large number of people! Many countries’ healthcare systems are in shambles, and keeping track of all Covid-19-related updates is becoming increasingly challenging. In its fight against Covid-19, India has released a number of mobile apps. The following are a few of the most important:

Coronavirus Symptoms Apps

Mobile apps can be an effective way to keep track of your own health. On the internet, there are a number of options. The CDC’s and Apple’s COVID-19 Screening Tool walks you through a series of questions concerning your health and coronavirus exposure. It then assists you in determining whether or not you require medical attention. It also includes advice on how to deal with social isolation, self-isolation, and symptom tracking. It’s accessible as an iPhone app as well as online (www.apple.com/covid19). A screening tool is also available on WebMD. Other apps that can help with symptoms include: COVID Symptom Study and COVID Symptom Tracker.

Mobile apps that can help in the fight against Covid-19

MapMyIndia Move (Android, iOS):

MapmyIndia is a significant mapping data company in India that provides consumers with a variety of technology services. So what is MapmyIndia, and how does it work? One of the most dependable mapping solutions in India is MapmyIndia. For more than two decades, the firm has used geospatial technologies to empower the country.

Based on input from the ministry of health and family welfare, a mobile app was designed to keep track of the overall number of cases in India. MapMyIndia includes a covid-19 dashboard with state-by-state data, as well as information about treatment centers, isolation centres, hunger relief centers, and migrant worker relief camps, as well as their locations on a map. Users can also submit issues such as law enforcement lapses or lockdown violations to the government and local authorities for review.

 How does it work?

‘MapmyIndia Move: Maps, Navigation & Tracking’ is a map app developed by MapmyIndia. Every major platform supports the application. MapmyIndia: Move is a Google Maps-like software that claims to provide a thorough map of India with ISRO’s Bhuvan Satellite view and advanced 3D maps with detailed position information. You can also utilize the service to obtain a detailed demographic analysis. One of the app’s most appealing features is its ability to provide a complete 3D demographic and topological image of a certain region. It features more than 10.54 million distinct POIs, including 2D and 3D landmarks in roughly 86 cities.

Using a more innovative search, the app also makes it easy for users to travel to a given address. For diverse locations, one can also use MapmyIndia’s eLoc, which is a character-unique digital address. Simply type this unique digital address into the search field to find the address immediately.

Features:

  • My World View
  • Share Live Location
  • Route Summary
  • Doorstep Navigation
  • Vehicle Health Diagnostics
  • COVID-19 Guide

The MapmyIndia Move app is available for Android users to download from the Google Play Store. The software is available for download from the Apple App Store for iOS users.

Arogya Setu (Android):

Arogya Setu is a government of India program aimed at assisting citizens in determining whether or not they have come into contact with an infected individual. The software creates a social graph using GPS and Bluetooth, which also allows it to track if an asymptomatic individual has crossed paths with a covid-19 infected person and give out alerts and self-isolation recommendations. Aarogya Setu is a smartphone app that alerts users to their risk of contracting Covid19. On April 2, the Indian government launched the Aarogya Setu smartphone app to protect Indian residents against the widespread spread of coronavirus.

The software uses a contact tracing method based on Bluetooth. As you go about your daily activities, it keeps track of all the people you come into contact with. If any of your contacts tests positive, the app will notify you. The Covid19 pandemic is also covered by the Aarogya Setu app, which gives relevant and tailored medical recommendations.

 How does it work?

When other devices with the same app come within Bluetooth proximity of your phone, the Aarogya Setu App on your phone recognizes them. When this happens, both phones securely share a digital signature of the interaction, which includes information such as time, proximity, position, and duration. This information is stored on everyone’s devices. If someone you’ve interacted with within the last 14 days tests positive for coronavirus, the app predicts your risk of infection based on how close you were to that person. The software then suggests a course of action.

The activity is visible on the app’s home screen. The app also offers appropriate medical interventions as needed.

Features:

  • Willing-to-volunteer option
  • Detection of nearby smartphones
  • Based on robust technology
  • It consists of a list of Aarogya helpline numbers
  • Chatbot
  • Indicates your health/risk status
  • Showcase COVID updates
  • Feature-media
  • FAQs related to e-pass
  • Information about PM Cares fund and Privacy FAQs

MyGov (Android, iOS):

The MyGov app allows users to keep track of India’s official case count. The app, which is available in Hindi and English, displays the number of active cases, discharged cases, and deaths on a continuous basis. Myth busters, a shortcut page for PM-Cares fund with bank account details for users to send money, and other educational elements are provided. Any proposals for combating Covid-19 can be sent through the app to the Safe India Hackathon.

MyGov is the Government of India’s revolutionary citizen engagement platform. This allows citizens to directly participate in governance by channeling their thoughts, criticisms, and also creative suggestions to Central Ministries and related institutions.

This app has been helping MoHFW with social media communications to convey authentic, easy-to-understand, and consistent information related to COVID19. MyGov built a dedicated webpage for COVID-related information dissemination – with the goal of driving behavioural change, combating fake news, and also busting myths.

Features:

  • MyGov offers a variety of practical tasks in which residents can participate and play an essential role in the country’s governance decision-making process.

Practo (Android, iOS):

Practo, a telemedicine platform, has begun offering online scheduling options now that private labs are permitted to test for covid-19. Thyrocare, a diagnostic company, will conduct the tests and send a licenced phlebotomist to collect samples from the patients’ homes. Only a genuine doctor’s prescription, a properly filled out test requisition form signed by the physician and a photo ID card will be accepted as proof of testing. Chats with a doctor are also available through the app. Practo, India’s most popular online doctor consultation app, provides comprehensive telemedicine solutions for your health and medical needs and those of your family. You can do the following with Practo:

The phlebotomists at Practo are well-trained and will collect free home samples with the utmost care and caution.

BOINC (Android):

People who actually want to donate to similar funds other than PM-Cares can use the BOINC app on Android devices. This is to access the UC Berkeley’s Rosetta@home initiative. The BOINC app, which is a distributed computing effort, allows everyone to donate the processing power of their PCs and cell phones to help speed up Coronavirus research and find a vaccine.

Bottom Line

Technology has played an important role in the global fight against the Novel Coronavirus pandemic. Almost everyone is employing technology in some form or another to combat this “unknown adversary”, including governments, healthcare institutions, non-profits, and commercial businesses. India, the world’s second-most populous country, is no exception: both the central and state governments, as well as private companies, have developed a number of mobile apps to respond to the pandemic, limit cases, and assist people with managing their health, daily needs, and other essential needs.
